WhatsApp

WhatsApp connects your employee to your contacts where they already message you.

  1. Open Add Connection in the dashboard and choose WhatsApp.
  2. The dashboard shows a QR code. Scan it with your phone (WhatsApp → Linked devices) to link the account.
  3. The QR pairing session is time-limited and only one pairing can run per employee at a time, so finish the scan promptly.
  4. Once linked, the channel shows as connected and the employee can start receiving messages.

One employee has one WhatsApp account. If the linked session later requires re-authorization, the channel moves to a needs re-auth state: it stops receiving and sending until you reconnect it, and the dashboard re-prompts you once a day until you do.

  • Direct messages: by default, newly connected WhatsApp channels accept direct messages from anyone and reply to them.
  • Groups: group chats are disabled by default. You can enable them in the channel configuration if you want the employee to participate.
  • Sending: outbound messages pass through the send gate. The default permission is that a send waits for your approval; you can relax or tighten this per channel.

WhatsApp accepts read-only owner commands (/decisions, /comms, and /help), so you can check pending decisions and recent communications from your phone.

Commands that change anything (/approve, /reject, /ask, /do, /communicate, /run) are refused on WhatsApp. The reply tells you nothing was done and to send the command from Slack or the dashboard chat. This is deliberate: a command that acts on your account must come from a surface where your identity is independently verified.

WhatsApp is an allowlist channel. If the employee tries to send a substantive message to a number that is not a verified contact (or you), the send is denied. Denials are audit-logged and you are notified.
